Chapter 5 - Pushing through...

Thursday, January 22, 2009

I can't do this. I can't do that. The things that I always said in my mind.. The same thing happen when I was told to go see the Centre Point hotel manager and asked for confirmation regarding sponsorship. Okay, maybe I should start from the beginning...

It was my first meeting with the higher ups of UBD, even though it is not planned for me to be there. Also going is the club president and coach. The agenda: ASEAN chess competition which I have mentioned before basically discussing on a few adjustments in the paperwork. We come up with one rather unexpected proposal. To have the event done at UBD instead of other place. During our first chess meeting this year, its our president's plan that this event will not involve UBD directly. I personally think it will be great that the competition will be held in the hotels. The early ideas sounds just great! However, the work needs to be done is tiring. Think about it, we're tired and there is an easy option. That proposal will greatly reduced our work to almost none! We talked about this right after the meeting.

What I think about it? Since it's my final year in UBD, I decided not to give up. I encourage them to stick to the initial plan. Let the competition be a blast! It will be a great memories!... and that is how I got involved with the work.

I don't know why I'm so nervous! All I have to do is find any manager of the hotel and ask whether they accepted the proposal we have given. And also asked when can we have a meeting to discussed about it. Well, at least I manage to send the message. In the end, they're having a meeting leaving me no choice but to leave my number for them to contact. It was such an experience.

Chapter 4 - Supplement Exam already!

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

It was time for my supplement exam! Already!! Skip the study part. I was able to finish reading all the topics in less than a day! I do a last minute study though since the timetable are out late. But still I can remember most of the important points - like 90% of the subject. Yet, I can't answer all of the exam questions! Studying for exam and writing it down during exam is not the same thing. I must practice both if I want to have high marks.. well it doesn't matter much already. Anyways I'm predicting my marks to be between 42 and 72. A large range you might say. But, 72 is the highest possible mark I can get since thats how much I answer. 42 comes from 7 question I answer which I think have the average lowest mark of 6 out of 10. This also means I shouldn't fail. I'm pretty confident about it.

After that exam we have a briefing for our incoming TP. Works for Research Project was given already. Sigh~ I wanted to rest some more. Later after hanging out with my friends. Such refreshing feelings. How long has it been since our last hangout?

(not sure if I want to go though)
- Preparation for Hiking in June 09
- Preparation for the 'Big Event' in July 09

Memories of 2008

Thursday, January 1, 2009

Well, a lot happen! Some of them are ~

Beginning of the year, it was my sixth semester. During semester break, four of my friends and I went to KK. It was my first time to go outside Brunei without my parents. We even stay for a few nights. It feels so weird yet exciting. There's no way I'm going to forget that day.

During the inter-semester holiday, we have TA - Teaching Assisstant! For four weeks we need to go to school and learn whatever we can from observing teacher doing their teaching. Its an exciting experience!

My father's father's death. I was told that he was dying by the end of our TA due to heart failure... He was sent to our house early in the morning of the next day from Jerudong Medical Center. May Allah blessed him.

One day during Hari Raya, we visit one of our friend's house in Temburong! Too bad not all of the gangs manage to come..

Steamboats! We buy our own steamboat equipment after having one during raya in our friend's house. We even try it in my room's hostel! Not a very good item though.. it take ages for the food to cook. After that we have another one at FOS.

Semester seven, there is a lot of presentations to do. I manage to get through all but one. I never have so much fun just by preparing them.

[Pic's here - Do I have any?]

Lastly, my friends from chess club and I went to Kuching for a chess tournament! Too bad we didn't won any prize. Its not fun at all. Luckily I was able to buy a book for someone. Worth it after all.
